By the four-time Champion Sire in Australia, Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), who serves so well the trilogy of Danehill – Redoute’s Choice – Snitzel, which is unrivalled in great Australian thoroughbreds. Snitzel was the Leading Sire of Two-Year-Olds four times and also been leading Australian Sire of earnings worldwide.

Snitzel is the sire Champion Two-Year-Old and now Cambridge Stud sire Sword Of State, whom David Ellis also purchased as a yearling from the draft of Newhaven Park, and bred on the same Snitzel/Encosta de Lago cross. 

The colt is the second foal from very good sprinter English, Champion 2YO Filly, Champion 3YO Filly, and Champion Female Sprinting Mare in Australia, by Champion Sire and quadruple Champion Broodmare Sire Encosta de Lago (Fairy King).

English was a Group Two winner before finishing runner-up in the Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) as a two-year-old, and recorded Group One victories in the Doomben 10,000 (Gr. 1, 1200m) and All Aged Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m). She was a terrifically determined sprinter that included three Group Two wins at Randwick, and earned nearly $3.5m in prize money. 

“He’s a beautiful colt in every respect and a readymade two-year-old that reminded us so much of Sword Of State,” Ellis said. 

“Firstly, the pedigree is the best you can buy and then physically he is a lovely loose walker and has plenty of rein in his physique which will stand by him as he matures.

“He has a great way of going, solid, strong, and muscular body, and just looks absolute class. “It really is a stallion’s pedigree and has all the right hallmarks of an exciting thoroughbred.” 

The colt carries a nicely balanced cross of Danzig, as the sire of Danehill on the sire line and sire of grand-dam sire Anabaa on the dam line of English.
