MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST YEARLING SALES
Lot 894 bay filly Written Tycoon – Seababe (Sebring) - draft: Yulong
Nine-time Champion Victorian Sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia) remains one of the best stallions in Australia, and rightly so as he continues to produce high quality young thoroughbreds.
He topped the Australian General Sires’ List in 2021, from an initial service fee of $8,250 to now command a private fee, and last season finished third to Zoustar (Northern Meteor) on the General Sires’ List in Australia.
Leading First Season Sire and Champion Two-Year-Old Sire, Written Tycoon is also a sire of sires, including Group One winners Ole Kirk, Capitalist, and Written By, and also the sire of current Te Akau stable star Captured By Love.
A finalist for Champion Two-Year-Old after winning two Group Two races, a Group Three, and twice Group One placed, Captured By Love placed three times in group races this season before winning the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).
She is now preparing for the $700,000 Sistema Railway (Gr. 1, 1200m) on Karaka Millions Night (25 Jan.) at Ellerslie.
Dam Seababe is by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winning stallion Sebring (More Than Ready), a very versatile sire of two-year-olds and Oaks’ winners, alike, while developing into a continually improving broodmare sire.
Seababe won four races from 1500m – 1900m, and a half-sister to Group One winning sprinter Lombardo (I Am Invincible). Seababe and Lombardo are each out of seven-time winner Swinging Babe, by Champion Broodmare Sire Encosta de Lago (Fairy King).
“She’s a lovely filly, by an incredible sire and out of mares by incredible broodmare sires, in Sebring and Encosta de Lago,” Ellis said.
“She’s a beautiful walking filly and very similar in many ways to Captured By Love. She has plenty of size, scope, and leg, and really is a stunning filly.
“She’s the second foal from the mare and I think that reflects in the good value price we got by getting in early.
“She looks to have the makings of an autumn two-year-old type, but also the pedigree to keep improving as a three and four-year-old and onwards.”
The filly carries a bloodline cross to immortal sire Northern Dancer, and Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winning Marscay, who in turn sired Golden Slipper winning Bint Marscay. Marscay was a Champion Sire in Australian, and four-time Champion Broodmare Sire.
