Lot 788 bay filly Wootton Bassett – Pleasurable (Camelot) - draft: Coolmore Stud
At the corresponding sale last year, Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM purchased the sale topping ($2.1m) filly by Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), out of former stable star and nine-time Group One winner Avantage (Fastnet Rock). Named Avantaggia, she is now a two-year-old and preparing to trial.
Coolmore shuttle stallion Wootton Bassett, the Champion 2YO Colt in France, is already a sire of sires with the Champion 3YO Colt in Europe, Ireland, and France, Almanzor shuttling to Cambridge Stud, where he has been Leading First Season Sire.
Dam Pleasurable, by Camelot (Montjeu), the Champion Three-Year-Old colt in Europe and Great Britain, is a three-quarter sister to Champion Older Male Stayer in Germany, Red Cardinal (Montjeu), and Group Two winner Maria Royal (Montjeu).
“She is a very elegant and beautiful moving filly, with a heck of a pedigree,” Ellis said.
“She has a European look about her physique, with the class to show some natural precocity and the depth in her bloodlines to get over longer trips.
“She really is a beautiful specimen, by a sire that is one of the best in Europe, and we’re about to start seeing his first crop Southern Hemisphere two-year-olds in action this season.
“If the performances by the progenies of his sire son Almanzor are anything to go by, then we’re going to see some top-drawer racehorses by Wootton Bassett too.
“There is plenty of staying blood in her pedigree and we see her as an Oaks type of filly. She will just improving with maturity and age.”
A blue-blood pedigree, the filly carries a bloodline cross to Zafonic, on the sire line as the sire of Iffraaj, and the dam line of Pleasurable.
