MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST YEARLING SALES
Lot 610 bay filly Super Seth – Lovable (Savabeel) - (Waikato Stud)
Super Seth made a fantastic impact as a three-year-old colt, especially when ‘coming from nowhere’ to beat race favourite and subsequent seven-time Group One winner Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) in the Caulfield Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).
Super Seth is a son of six-time Group One winner Dundeel, by sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells), who is a very good sire in Australia, with progeny winning over 1000 races including 68 stakes wins.
With his oldest crop now three-year-olds, the progeny of Super Seth has continued to impress trainers while they affirm themselves in age group races.
This season has seen the emergence of Super Seth three-year-old filly Sethito, who impressively won the Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) and finished second in the Eight Carat Classic (Gr. 2, 1600m).
Notably, dam Lovable is by eight-time Champion Sire Savabeel, whose modern-day influence in the NZ thoroughbred industry is insurmountable.
The filly is from the fabulous family of Sacred Falls, one of most potent families at Waikato Stud.
Champion Three-Year-Old (up to 1600m) and four-time Group One winner Sacred Falls (O’Reilly) won the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), AJC Doncaster (Gr. 1, 1600m) twice, and George Main Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m), earning $5.1 million, before retiring to stud.
“It’s the family of Sacred Falls, who did a great job as a racehorse and sire before his career ended well before its time. It’s a fast family,” said David Ellis.
“We’ve been keeping a close eye on the performances by the progeny of Super Seth and he’s a good young sire that produces muscular early types that are certainly training on as three-year-olds.
“Being by Dundeel, who was a superstar racehorse and sire, the Super Seth’s should just continue to get better as they mature.
“We’ve had experience training horses from the family, including Splurge (Savabeel), who was a Group Two and Group Three sprint winner and at his best he was a very exciting.
“She’s a beautiful filly, well balanced, and has everything in the right place.”
Concluding the sale, auctioneer Steve Davis said: “Mr. David Ellis gets the tangerine colours on her. Looks good. I reckon you nicked that one, well played, well bought.”
The filly has a beautifully balanced cross of Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) on the dam lines of both Super Seth and Lovable, and a Zabeel (Sir Tristram) cross through the sire-lines of Super Seth and Lovable.
