Shanti Brown

Executive Assistant (New Zealand)

Based at Te Akau Stud, Shanti Brown is Executive Assistant to Sir David Ellis KNZM and Lady Karyn Ellis MNZM. She plays a vital role in the day-to-day operation of Te Akau Racing, supporting the wide-ranging demands of the business and helping ensure key administrative processes run smoothly.

Shanti manages complex schedules, coordinates meetings and oversees important owner administration. During the busy sales period, she manages the distribution and collection of required NZTR documentation for new owners. She also works closely with Lady Karyn on the registration and naming of horses and supports the planning and delivery of owner events, functions and key engagements throughout the year.

Originally from a hospitality background, Shanti transitioned into racing after a demanding career in high-pressure kitchen environments. Although she entered the industry without prior experience with horses, she embraced the opportunity to learn and has developed a strong understanding of the operation through practical, hands-on experience.

Shanti is known for her professionalism, loyalty, organisation and genuine care. She has a natural ability to connect with people and enjoys building relationships with owners across raceday, farm visits and sales. As an owner herself, with a share in Sense of Timing, she also brings a personal understanding of the ownership journey to her role.

Recognised as a Te Akau Racing Team Member of the Quarter, Shanti has become an integral part of the team. Her ability to anticipate what is needed, adapt to a fast-paced environment and create a warm, welcoming experience contributes significantly to the strong sense of community that defines Te Akau.
