ORIGIN OF LOVE

A beautifully bred daughter of Snitzel, Origin of Love enjoyed a highly successful 3YO season - one that underlined her toughness and tenacity, successful in a long campaign that saw her claim Group victories in the North and South Islands.

After debuting in early September 2025, having trialled five times, she was quickly into the winner's circle in late September 2025.

Finishing fifth in the $100,000 Group 3 Barneswood Farm Stakes 3YO SW 1400m in early October 2025, she showed her ability and determination to win the $100,000 Group 3 War Decree Stakes 3YO SW 1600m on 25 October 2025 in the hands of Joe Doyle.

A tilt at the $600,000 Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas 3YOF SW 1600m followed during NZ Cup Week in November 2025, where she finished a creditable fifth place.  Following a brief break, she travelled back north via the $100,000 Group 3 Lawnmaster Eulogy Stakes 3YOF SW 1600m and notched up further black type, finishing and eye catching second.

Next seen on New Year's Day 2026 at Ellerslie, Origin of Love confirmed the ability that the team long knew she possessed with a superb effort for second in the $270,000 Group 2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes 3YOF SW 2000m, beaten only by the eventual Group 1 NZ Oaks winner.

Continuing a busy season, the 3YO Snitzel filly was an unlucky fourth in the $175,000 Group 2 Jennian Homes Lowland Stakes 3YOF 2100m at Trentham at the end of January 2026.  Champion's Day at Ellerslie was next in early March where she gathered plenty more admirers when third - by a short neck/short neck in the $100,000 Windsor Park 3YO Trophy SW+P 1500m.

After such a superb campaign, it was therefore fitting that, at her final 3YO appearance, she was a dominant winner of the $250,000 Group 2 Taylor Property Plus Wellington Guineas 3YOSW 1600m at Trentham in late March 2026.

Origin of Love is one of two fillies raced by the Te Akau 2024 Magic Fillies Breeding Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).  She was purchased by David Ellis CNZM at the Magic Millions' Gold Coast Sale and has raced 10 times for three wins and seven placings, earning $320,990 to date.
