NUCLEOZOR
Bred and raced by Te Akau Stud and Westonlea Bloodstock, Nucleozor was raised on the beautiful grass at Te Akau Stud.
The son of Almanzor and good race filly Nuleonic, herself a daughter of Singapore Champion 2YO and 3YO Mexican Rose, this youngster showed early on he had the potential to be an exciting racing proposition.
After placing in a trial in the North island, trainers Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson laid their plan. Transferring to Te Akau's South Island stable under the watchful eye of foreman Hunter Durrant, the 2YO won a trial in Christchurch in late February 2024 before heading to Otago for his debut.
In the hands of Ashvin Goindasamy, Nucleozor powered home late of the Otago meeting to claim the $40,000 2YO SW+P 820m by half a length.
At his next start, at on 23 March 2024 at Riccarton in Christchurch, it was a similar story but this time with Te Akau apprentice Naranjan Parmar aboard. The gelding was dominant winning the $40,000 2YO SW+P 1000m but this time taking over at the 200m he won as he liked with a 3.25 length margin between him and stablemate Discretion Rules.
Start three of Nucleozor's career saw him stepping up to the black type challenge with class. Ridden by the country's leading rider Warren Kennedy, he jumped well from the inside barrier, cut the corner turning for home in the $80,000 Listed Riccarton Park Function Centre Welcome Stakes 2YO SW 1000m. He was simply too good - a 4.25 length margin this time separating him and his stablemate as per the race previous.
Te Akau has now won the Listed Welcome Stakes nine times in the past 20 years.
Nucelozor was bred and is raced by Te Akau Stud and David and Matthew Peacocke's Westonlea Bloodstock. He has raced three times, and is unbeaten to date, winning $92,000 in prizemoney in his career. He has been sold and will undertake future racing in Hong Kong.
