Midnight Blue joined Te Akau as an older, proven horse - when purchased by David Ellis CNZM from the Inglis Digital OnLine Sale in November 2023 for A$92,500.
A former Group 2 Perth Cup winner and placgetter, the son of So You Think had also won the A$125,000 Listed Ascot Gold Cup over 1800m and was four further times stakes' placed.
To date Midnight Blue has more than rewarded his new owners' faith and confidence - he was runner up in the A$70,000 Bairnsdale Cup in March 2024 before taking Caulfield by storm in May 2024 when claiming the A$150,000 BM 100 over 2000m with former Te Akau apprentice Daniel Stackhouse aboard.
It was Stackhouse again in October 2024, when Midnight Blue scored a dominant victory in the A$200,000 Seymour Cup over 1600m.
Midnight Blue has raced 34 times in total in his career, winning seven races and placing 20 times for A$902,325 in stakes. For the Te Akau Midnight Blue Racing Partnership, he has raced six times for two wins and a placing, earning his new owners A$219,500 to date.
