Lot 583 bay filly Written Tycoon – Supara (Domesday) – Newhaven Park
This is a ripper of a filly by leading First Season Sire and Champion Two-Year-Old Sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia). He is currently then second leading sire for both wins and winners in Australia, and recently notched his 100thstakes winner as a sire, a tally that includes 13 Group 1 winners.
Written Tycoon is also a ‘sire of sires’, including Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Capitalist, Group 1 winners Written By and Ole Kirk, and Rich Enuff, Winning Rupert.
Supara, the dam of this filly, competed mainly in stakes’ races, and was trained by Gai Waterhouse. As a three-year-old she finished runner-up in both the Emancipation Stakes (Gr. 2, 1500m) and Surround Stakes (Gr. 2, 1400m), after winning early in her career over 1100 metres.
Dam sire Domesday (Red Ransom) was a smart Group 2 winning sprinter, sire of Group 1 winning stallion Pressday, while also making mark as a broodmare sire, given his excellent line breeding. He has had particular success with Northern Dancer line mares, evident in pedigree of Supara.
Extremely well bred, Domesday is from family of Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), and Domesday mares have mated successfully with Sir Tristram (Sir Ivor) mares, which include Zabeel and Savabeel.
“She is all class, athletic, and a high-quality filly with a terrific pedigree,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis.
“It’s not hard to fall in love with a filly like this and we were thrilled to be able to secure her from a stud that we have come to know so well, through Newhaven Park standing Xtravagant.
“She walks beautifully, is very correct, has a great temperament and demeanour, and just a gorgeous filly, a stand-out.”
This filly is in a syndicate with Lot 9 our Exceed and Excel filly – we will target the A$2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic this time next year. Both our 2021 syndicate fillies from this sale are already winners, with Bright Blue Sky winning a stakes’ race on debut. Bright Blue Sky qualified for the 2022 Magic Millions’ Classic.
