By six-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m) winning three-year-old that proved a sire sensation throughout Australasia. Savabeel is sire of current Horse of the Year Probabeel, purchased as a yearling by David Ellis at Karaka, winner of four Group 1 races in Australia.

Ellis and Te Akau experienced enormous success with progeny of Savabeel, aiding his standing in no small way, through deeds of NZB Filly of the Year Amarelinha, Hall of Fame, Savy Yong Blonk, Brando, Sword of Osman, Cool Aza Beel, Noverre, Embellish, Prise De Fer, Splurge, Gold Fever, Aotea Lad etc.

The filly is a half-sister to stable-mate and three time winner Challa (Dissident), purchased by David Ellis as a yearling at Karaka.

Challa was the first foal from Are There Any, a mare that won six races from 1300m to 2050m in Melbourne, while grand-dam Honest Politician (Distorted Humor) was very tough racehorse that won eight times (1600m – 2000m) in Australia.

“She’s as good a Savabeel filly as any in the sale,” said David Ellis. “She’s athletic, well balanced, and moves really well.

“We trained Challa, a genuine racehorse with plenty of speed and courage. The mare has also had a winner in Hong Kong since the catalogue went to print.

“We thought she was a really nice style of filly, later foal, autumn two-year-old type that we expect could develop into a 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) filly.

“She’s got a lot of class about her and Trelawney Stud has such a great record of breeding good tough racehorses.”

The filly carries a cross of immortal sire Northern Dancer, while Are There Any has a Danzig cross.
