Description
Lot 167 bay colt Nicconi – Choreography (Volksraad) (draft: Pencarrow Stud)
Nicconi (Bianconi) is sire of sensational sprinter Nature Strip, winner of seven Group 1 races, an Everest (1200m) and $16 million in prize money.
Dam Choreography, by terrific broodmare sire Volksraad, is a half-sister to Travis Stakes (Gr. 2, 2000m) winner and dual Group 1 placed Rasa Lila (Darci Brahma).
Unlucky not to win at Group 1 level, Rasa Lila impressed regularly over 1600m and up to 2000m and numbered Group 2 and 3 wins among seven race victories. By Champion Sire Darci Brahma (Danehill), bought by David Ellis as a yearling and went on to win five Group 1 races, Rasa Lila is from a terrific Pencarrow family.
“He’s has a lot of class and natural strength,” said David Ellis. “It’s a really good Pecarrow family, initially from an international mare imported by Sir Peter Vela.
“He’s got a lot going for him and Nicconi is an underrated stallion. He’s a fast stallion and we think this colt could be up and running as two-year-old.
“There was solid competition on the colt and we thought he was really good buying.”
The colt carries a Danzig cross through his sire lines and Sadler’s Wells cross in the dam lines.
