By six-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m) winning three-year-old that proved sire sensation throughout Australasia. Savabeel is the sire of current Horse of the Year Probabeel, purchased as a yearling by David Ellis at Karaka, winner of four Group 1 races in Australia.
Ellis and Te Akau experienced enormous success with progeny of Savabeel, aiding his standing in no small way, through deeds of NZB Filly of the Year Amarelinha, Hall of Fame, Savy Yong Blonk, Brando, Sword of Osman, Shillelagh, Cool Aza Beel, Noverre, Embellish, Prise De Fer, Splurge, Gold Fever, Aotea Lad, Royal Success, and Grazia etc.
Twice winning dam Bingo is a three-quarter sister to triple Group 1 winner Daffodil (No Excuse Needed), family of 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and Karaka Million 3YO Classic (Restricted Listed, 1600m) winner Aegon (Sacred Falls).
Third dam Head of the River (Shirley Heights) has been a massive producer, including Top Filly in 2YO Australasian Classifications Good Faith (Straight Strike), in turn a great producer herself.
Savabeel / Zabeel / Sir Tristram/ Sir Ivor (son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather) are the cornerstone of New Zealand breeding industry.
“He’s definitely one of the best Savabeel colts in the sale, out of an O’Reilly mare, and just an outstanding cross and from a great farm,” said David Ellis.
“He’s a classy colt and 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) sort of horse, and likely to be up and running in the autumn as a two-year-old.
“It’s the family of Sacred Falls, who has done a great job as a racehorse and sire before his career ended well before its time. It’s a fast family.”
The colt has a bloodline cross of immortal sire Northern Dancer, while dam Bingo carries cross of Epsom Derby winner Mill Reef.
