Lot 60 bay filly Tarzino – Cocodiva (Carnegie) (draft: Westbury Stud)

Now here was one of the buys of the sale price wise!! And a cracking good type of filly too, a real staying type she looks to us.

Bred on the Tavistock/Zabeel cross, Tarzino (ex. Zarzino) commenced stud duties in 2017 at Westbury Stud, and already sired Queensland Oaks (Gr. 1, 2200m) winner and Champion 3YO Filly in Australia, Gypsy Goddess, along with South Australian Derby (Gr. 1, 2500m) winner Jungle Magnate.

As a racehorse, Tarzino competed against the best three-year-olds in Australia, winning the VRC Derby (Gr. 1, 2500m), his third win in first six starts, and returned to finish second in Australian Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) before victory in the Rosehill Guineas (Gr. 1, 2000m), and named Champion 3YO Colt in Australia.

Dam-sire Carnegie (Sadler’s Wells), who won the Prix de l’Arc Triomphe (Gr. 1, 2400m), sired Derby winners in Australia, and he also sired a Derby winner as a broodmare sire.

“We have kept a close eye on the progeny of Tarzino, who has made a terrific start to his stallion career, sired above average horses includig some classic staying three-year-olds,” said David Ellis.

“She’s a beautiful three-year-old Oaks type of filly and showed some lovely stretch in her breeze-up.

“There is plenty of Carnegie about her appearance and a lot of his progeny had tremendous amounts of stamina.

“She’s a classic looking filly.”

The filly has a Sadler’s Wells (Northern Dancer) cross through her sire-lines.
