Karaka Ready To Run – Lot 230 U S Navy Flag – Quest Bay Colt

To race from our Singapore stable with Donna Logan!
Lot 230 bay colt U S Navy Flag – Quest (Volksraad) $90,000 (draft: Riverrock Farm)
A strong colt with plenty of substance, he bounded into his work under rider Chad Ormsby, who prepared him at Riverrock, flattening out stylishly to breeze-up in very good time (10.60).
By triple Group One winner and Champion Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old in Europe, Great Britain, and Ireland, U S Navy Flag is a son of top international sire War Front (Danzig).
The dam of U S Navy Flag, Misty For Me (Galileo), won four Group One races (1408m – 2012m) in Europe.
Commencing stud duties in 2019, firstly in Ireland, the oldest NZ progeny have recently turned two-year-olds.
U S Navy Flag made a terrific start as a stallion: his first winner, Ocean Vision, scored at Dundalk, Ireland, and since finished fourth in a stakes race; Love Reigns was quite incredible when racing clear to win by 10 lengths over 1100 metres at Keeneland, USA, and Ibiza Love displayed terrific athleticism to win comfortably over 1310 metres at Doncaster, UK.
Local trainers have been impressed by the professionalism of his progeny, and he appears an exciting stallion prospect.
Quest won five races, impressed from 2000m – 2200m, and twice contested the Auckland Cup (Gr. 1, 3200m).
She in turn is from impressive winner Limerick (Grosvenor), Group Three winner and Group Two placed, who left nine individual winners of 35 races including Group Two winner Capella (Rip Van Winkle), and Group Three placed Wisecrack (Rip Van Winkle).
It is a family of big, bold, gallopers that all seem to have inherited quality, class, and ability.
“He really fits the mould of the family – a family that has continued to produce top horses throughout its lineage,” said David Ellis.
“The progeny have invariably stretched out over ground, but also shown natural ability over shorter trips early in their careers.
“He was prepared by a great farm and we were extremely pleased being able to secure him.”
