Lot 952 grey filly Frosted – Ravenna (Redoute’s Choice) (draft: Blandford Lodge)
Triple Group One winner Frosted is a son of Tapit (Pulpit), a breed shaping US stallion and the most dominant sire line at present in America, represented by reigning US Horse of the Year Flightline – unbeaten in six starts including four Group Ones.
Frosted has been shuttled over the past few seasons by Darley to Australia, where his oldest progeny are four-year-olds, represented by multiple stakes winners Ingratiating, and Cloudy.
Dam Ravenna, a half-sister to Group Two winner Downhill Racer (Danehill Dancer), is by Champion Broodmare Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill). Both are out Trick Ski, by Australian Champion 2YO, Champion Sire and great broodmare sire Rory’s Jester (Crown Jester), a major speed influence.
Third dam Rossignol is by high quality sire Bluebird (Storm Bird), who left multiple stakes winner Schubert (Salieri).
“She is a beautiful looking filly with great balance and substance,” said David Ellis.
“The Tapit blood is among the hottest in the world right now, and being out of a Redoute’s Choice mare just adds to her quality and residual value if she puts her hand up as a racehorse.”
The filly has a cross to immortal sire Northern Dancer, and highly successful Nijinsky II.
