Description
Lot 586 bay filly Fastnet Rock – Test the World (Testa Rossa) (draft: Curraghmore Stud)
From the same Coolmore Stud/Curraghmore Stud combination as David Ellis purchased nine-time Group One winner Avantage (Fastnet Rock), comes another outstanding filly.
Champion Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) has left more than 2000 winners globally, regarded as a sire influence of international repute, and renowned sprinter/miler producer.
Dam Test the World won six-times to 1200 metres in Sydney, including four in succession, and a very good filly that finished runner-up twice in stakes races.
The pedigree page has real depth of stakes winners, through to third dam Glory Girl (Best Western) leaving nine winners.
While Avantage was an international flag bearer for Fastnet Rock, with highest number of Group One wins, Heroic Valour, Rock ‘n’ Pop, Age of Fire, were other Group One winners by Fastnet Rock that Ellis purchased as yearlings.
“It’s pretty exciting to have secured his filly and we were really determined to get her,” Ellis said.
“I’ve been coming here since the opening of this complex in 1988 and this is the best filly I’ve seen in a very long time.
“Both this filly and Avantage have similarities. They are both fast types of Fastnet Rock’s and while Avantage won from 1200m – 2000m, I could see this filly following a similar sort of path as she matures.
“The dam-sire Testa Rossa reflects a lot of speed and this filly’s mother was herself a very fast filly.
“When you buy a horse from Coolmore Stud and prepared at Curraghmore Stud by Gordon Cunningham, you know they’re a great chance because of the environments they were prepared in.”
Cunningham received the filly in early October from Coolmore Australia, to continue her sales preparation.
“We’ve always felt that she was a top class filly and when she came to the sales grounds you could sense that the momentum was building on her, and she put her best foot forward.
“She was a lovely filly on arrival from Australia, and continued to develop really well since then.
“She’s consistent with the best class of fillies we’ve prepared and very obviously by Fastnet Rock, from her head to her tail.
“Basically she has plenty of strength, and a good but strong mind which good fillies tend to have.
“We’re delighted to have achieved such a great price in the sales ring for her and I’d like to congratulate David Ellis on buying another top filly from us.”
The filly carries a Danehill cross as the sire of Fastnet Rock and through the dam line of Test the World.
