Description
Lot 351 bay colt Alabama Express – Miss Madonna (Zoustar) (draft: Highline Thoroughbreds)
He is from the first crop of C F Orr Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) winner Alabama Express, won by his father Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), and other top racehorses and sires Lonhro (Octagonal) and All Too Hard (Casino Prince).
A $280,000 yearling purchase, Alabama Express is out of Lago Ovation (Encosta de Lago), a half-sister to Everest (1200m) winner Giga Kick (Scissor Kick).
Dam sire Zoustar won six of his nine starts, including two Group Ones and a Group Two, Zoustar became one of the most sought after stallions in Australia, following the premature demise of his sire Northern Meteor (Encosta De Lago) who had been Champion First Season Sire, and in his own right has been Champion First, Second, & Third Season Sire.
It is the family of Group One winner and Champion Two-Year-Old Sword of State (Snitzel), purchased as a yearling by David Ellis and recently completed first season sire duties at Cambridge Stud.
“He’s a strong bodied and very mature colt that handled the preparation really well and by a sire that we have high hopes for,” Ellis said.
