Description
Lot 292 chestnut filly Super Seth – Lady Pinot (Starspangledbanner) (draft: Milan Park)
Freshman sire Super Seth (Dundeel), standing at Waikato Stud, won the Caulfield Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) in brilliant style, and already had yearlings sell up to $450,000.
Super Seth is a son of the Champion Three-Year-Old and Horse of the Year in New Zealand, Dundeel (High Chaparral), who was also Champion Middle Distance Male in Australia, and in turn a son of sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells).
David Ellis purchased her dam Lady Pinot as a yearling at Karaka, winning three times to 1200 metres, and she has already left talented filly Musigny Lass (Iffraaj), a three-time winner to 1300 metres.
Ellis knows the family better than most, having purchased multiple group winners and subsequent stallions Darci Brahma (Danehill) and Burgundy (Redoute’s Choice) as yearlings at Karaka, from third dam Grand Echezeaux (Zabeel), winner of the South Australian Oaks (Gr. 1, 2000m).
“She is from the wonderful Pencarrow family and the dam, Lady Pinot, was a strong running type by world champion sprinter Starspangledbanner (Choisir),” Ellis said.
“It’s one of the best families in New Zealand.”
