Hunter Durrant

Hunter Durrant is a standout team member of Te Akau Racing - our Stable Foreman and Senior Track Work Rider at Te Akau's South Island stable, based at Riccarton, Christchurch. 

Hunter brings a unique blend of leadership, dedication, and professionalism to his role. His leadership style is characterised by an unwavering commitment to excellence, whether managing daily operations in the South Island or guiding horses through track work. 

In the fast-paced world of horse racing, professionalism is paramount. His attention to detail, strong work ethic, and thorough understanding of the thoroughbred make him an invaluable asset to the team. 

Hunter excels not only in his role but also as a stellar ambassador for the stable. His affable manner and exceptional communication skills make him popular with both owners and our team.  As a good listener, as well as horse professional, he provides valuable feedback to both owners and our training team.

Hunter rejoined the team after a sabbatical in Australia where he worked as a senior foreman in the Annabel Neasham stable.  He is a terrific example of another young talent that te Akau has been proud to offer a career pathway to, and is a testament to the bright future of New Zealand racing, embodying the values of leadership, professionalism, and passion.
