WINNER: Dismantle Does Just That

With a powerful performance, Dismantle (5 m Spirit Of Boom – Pimlico Girl, by Exceed and Excel) won the A$22,000 O’Donnells Transport Lakes Entrance Cup Benchmark 56 1000 metres on 4 August at Bairnsdale (Victoria). 

Arriving with a win and two seconds to 1100 metres, from five starts, and the ability to act fresh, Dismantle did well for third when having her first start for Te Akau trainer Mark Walker in the 0 – 66 Handicap 1000 metres on 10 June at Sale. 

She then remained back from a wide draw (12) on Heavy9 footing in the Benchmark 62 Fillies & Mares 1100 metres on 5 July at Bendigo, and most recently finished third in an 800-metre jump out on 27 July at Cranbourne. 

A Maiden winner on Good4 footing, when trained in Queensland, it appeared that Soft5 conditions would suit Dismantle and she was aided by drawing barrier two.

Ridden by Jake Noonan, Dismantle settled eighth before tracking race favourite My China Plate (Exceedance) into contention from the 600m, and although straightening for the run home with plenty to do, she really got into her work inside the final 100m and hit the line full of gusto.

Carrying 60-kilos, Dismantle ran 1000 metres in 1:00.6 on Soft5 footing and paid $7.60 & $2.20 on the NZ TAB tote.

“It was a really satisfying win by Dismantle and we’re very thankful to Brae Sokolski (YES Bloodstock) for sending her our way,” said Walker, who started the season on a high note when the first runner for the stable, Stage ‘n’ Screen (Ace High), won on Saturday 1 August at Flemington. 

“She’s a very good-looking mare, with plenty of strength, and hopefully that win will give her the confidence to step up competitively in grade.

“Brae has had a lot of great horses over the years and we certainly appreciate having his famous colours in the stable.”

Owned by Yes Bloodstock (Mgr: B F Sokolski), Black Soil Bloodstock (Mgr: B A Siemsen) & Eureka Stud (Mgr: S C Mcalpine), Dismantle is by four-time Champion Sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo), a Leading First Season Sire by winners in Australia, that sired a huge number of winners (over 500 with more than 1500 wins), including 48 stakes' wins.

Dismantle is the third winner for Pimlico Girl, whose progeny have now won 13 races, and the three-quarter sister to third top Australian 2YO Churchill Downs (Danehill) and half-sister to Group One winner Apache Chase (Better Than Ready) continues making a name for herself as a producer.

Dismantle is the second winner that Walker has trained for Brae Sokolski (YES Bloodstock) and his team of owners, following two-year-old gelding Harry Met Sally (Yes Yes Yes) who sustained a strong gallop to win in March at Ballarat. 

Sokolski has a strong connection to the stallion Yes Yes Yes (Rubick), the Australian Champion Three-Year-Colt and A$13 million Everest (1200m) winner, having shared in racing him, while also being involved in the ownership of World Champion Mare and Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant (Zed) and triple Group One winner Incentivise (Shamus Award).

Dismantle has a bloodline cross to breed shaping Champion Sire Danehill (Danzig), on the dam line of Spirit Of Boom and dam sire line of Pimlico Girl.
