Travel Update

Date: 16 Aug 2013

It is interesting to think that our family is now scattered all over Europe!  David left London today to travel to Paris on the chunnel train.

Chunnel

He is now safely in Paris where he has caught up with NZ Bloodstock Chairman Joe Walls and they will travel to Deauville tomorrow in preparation for the upcoming sale there.

Our youngest daughter Julia also left London today but she was bound for arguably more exotic shores - as in Palma in Spain where, as you know, she is staying on two super yachts - sigh!  This is what she found when she arrived late this afternoon:

Palma-de-Mallorca

Lydia, Mitch and Karyn of course had, in the end, a seven hour delay getting out of Heathrow for Florence - they should have arrived at 6.35pm local time but landed just after 1am.  An almost deserted airport and nearly 50 passengers waiting in a line for taxis with not a one in sight added to their sense of humour.  They finally made it to their accommodation at 2.30am.

However up by 8am, the day consisted of almost 12 hours of walking around the old inner city (including a 30 minute horse and carriage ride) and my what a beautiful city she is as you can see below.  It was needless to say, a quiet night with some local cheese, crackers, salami, prosecco and early to bed as Lydia (the tourist) is off to see Michelangelo's "David" tomorrow very early to avoid queuing!!

So while we are in all very different places, we are sure there will be plenty of stories to tell soon!
