Te Akau Waverley Easter Monday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Monday 21 April at Waverley.

Waverley:

Weather: cloudy, track: Soft6, rail: out 2 metres from crossing to 1400m, remainder true. 11mls rain forecast Sunday and 4mls Monday.

11:58 a.m. R1 6 Novelette (2 f Cool Aza Beel – Fiction) – Michael McNab; she got back after being a touch tardy away from barrier one, was six lengths off the leaders at the 600m, fifth into straight and then ran home strongly for a close third in a trial on 1 April at Ellerslie. Debuting in the $17,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres, her two trials have resulted in good efforts for second and third, and she looks well placed to deliver a top three finish on debut.  Fixed odds: $3.20 & $1.45.

2:54 p.m. R6 9 Hayate (6 m Maurice – Vamoose) – Michael McNab; she finished second in the Rating 60 1600 metres on 12 March at Matamata, and lifted from a handy position for fourth in the Rating 60 2100 metres on 2 April at Pukekohe. Contesting the $17,000 Rating 60 2100 metres, she appears to have returned to form, holds good fitness levels, and is a realistic a top three prospect. Fixed odds: $3.10 & $1.55.

4:04 p.m. R8 4 Malborough Bay (5 g Darci Brahma – Spin ‘N Grin) – Hayley Hassman (a4); he began well from barrier one to travel boldly in the trail and ran home well near rail for fourth in a trial 1 April at Ellerslie. Resuming in the $17,000 Rating 75 1200 metres, he enjoys weight relief to 56kg and has recorded four wins to 1400 metres. He has shown a liking for soft ground, and is a genuine performer that tries hard. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.40.
