Te Akau Wairarapa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race programme on Waitangi Day, Feb. 6, at Tauherenikau.

As on Wednesday Feb. 5 the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true.

2:20pm R3 6 Pride and Passion (5 m Encosta De Lago - Calaway Gal) - Matt Cameron; ran a good race for fourth on Jan. 17 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres at Matamata, and has drawn the ace in a field of seven for the Benchmark 65 1300 metres. A stylish winner fresh up on Dec. 24 over 1200 metres at New Plymouth, her northern form should put her right in the picture here.

4:05pm R6 5 Precious Time (6 m Stravinsky - Ana Zeel) - Matt Cameron; travelled nicely off the pace and got up to win through a deft bit of riding near the rail on Jan. 11 in the Benchmark 85 1600 metres at Awapuni, second up off a long spell. A staying mare of good ability, she has blinkers on for the Wairarapa Breeders' Stakes (Listed, 1600m). Although a far stiffer assignment than her last race, she is a very genuine performer and can show up with a decent passage from barrier eight.
