Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 13 horses entered on Saturday 14 May at Kranji.

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and Mark Walker returned home to oversee the New Zealand stable.

Since Te Akau established it stable at Kranji in 2010, Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021 with 66 wins, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.

4:30 p.m. R2 1 Deception (3 g I Am Invincible - Friday Hussy) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 4 of 12 in $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on turf and carries 56kg. His form is good and he is overdue a win. He had a quiet trial during the week and rates a top three chance.

5:00 p.m. R3 2 Mystery Power(5 g No Nay Never - Gems) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew outside barrier (12) in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 56kg. He got a long way back last time on a steady tempo and clocked the second fastest final 400m. Drawn wide (12), he needs hot speed to produce a big finish - one of a stable trio.

5:00 p.m. R3 8 Sunday (4 g Delago Deluxe - Gentle) - Oscar Chavez; drew barrier 5 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. He stormed home for third last time over 1400 metres, strikes a reasonable field and rates a place chance.

5:00 p.m. R3 9 Pasir Pinji (5 g Nadeem - Mistaar) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1600 metres on turf and carries 50kg. He had excuses last start, should improve, is getting down in ratings but needs to show something.

5:30 p.m. R4 2 Reignite(4 g Sebring - Risk Aversion) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 6 of 9 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 57kg. He ran a nice third last start behind stable-mate Silent Is Gold. Back to the poly should be a plus, he has a good course/distance record, and rates a genuine top three chance.

6:00 p.m. R5 4 Our Secret Weapon (4 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 4 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. He needs things to go his way and is capable of running good race if they do - the first of a stable duo in the event.

6:00 p.m. R5 9 Diamond Ring (5 g Super Easy - Donna Marie) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew outside barrier (12) in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. He has been working well, but requires luck from the difficult draw (12) in order to surprise at odds.

6:30 p.m. R6 9 Rahotu (5 g Invincible Spirit - Insoumise) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 11 of 12 in $20,000 Maiden 1400 metres on turf and carries 57kg. He ran home powerfully last start, shows ability and rates a top three prospect if he does everything right and has luck going forward from the draw (11).

8:00 p.m. R9 5 God's Gift (5 g Haradasun - Criquette) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 52kg. Won last start when everything went his way. He meets a stronger field, but rates a top four chance if able to follow rail - one of two for the team in this race.

8:00 p.m. R9 8 Qiji Auston (4 g Spirit of Boom - Light Emission) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); drew barrier 10 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1700 metres on poly-track and carries 49kg. He needs to improve.

8:30 p.m. R10 6 Eastiger (7 g Magic Albert - Quite Astute) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 7 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 53kg. He finished strongly for second last start and presents as a top three chance - in another race with two stable reps.

8:30 p.m. R10 7 Broadway Success (6 g Alamosa - Broadway Express) - Ronald Stewart; drew barrier 1 of 11 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 54.5kg. He is a bit inconsistent and his best chance if he is able to hold the lead or be handy from barrier one.

9:00 p.m. R11 4 Axel (6 g Darci Brahma - Josephines Fortune) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 5 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1600 metres on poly-track and carries 51.5kg. He was a big winner last start, beating handy field and closing in a good final sectional. He has first four claims.
