Te Akau Singapore Saturday Preview

Te Akau Singapore has 11 horses entered on Saturday 22 January at Kranji

Resident trainer Donna Logan has taken over reins for Te Akau in Singapore, and Mark Walker returns home to New Zealand, replacing Jamie Richards who leaves in April to train in Hong Kong.

Since Te Akau established a stable in 2010 in Singapore,  Walker was Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019 and 2021 with 66 wins, and was also runner-up three times, as well as third and fourth.

5:00 p.m. R1 10 Hidden Promise  (9 g Postponed - Promissory) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 1 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf and carries 51kg. He is better over more distance.

5:30 p.m. R2 8 Deception  (3 g I Am Invincible - Friday Hussy) - Shafiq Rusof: drew barrier 9 of 12 in $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on turf and carries 57kg. While there is plenty to like about him, he does have an awkward draw (9) to contend with - he has first four prospects.

6:30 p.m. R4 6 Super Posh  (6 g Super Easy - Posh Bec) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew outside barrier (12) in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 54kg. Again a horror draw (12) to deal with, so waiting until better gate would be the suggestion.

6:30 p.m. R4 11 Gamely  (6 g Golden Archer - Tiny Temptress) - Marc Lerner; drew barrier 11 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1100 metres on poly-track carries 56kg. Ultra consistent, he rates a top four chance with luck from the wide draw (11).

7:00 p.m. R5 7 Dragon Ryker  (4 g Cable Bay - Phoenix Clubs) - CC Wong; drew barrier 7 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf carries 57.5kg. No luck last time, he can turn that around and rates a first four chance.

7:00 p.m. R5 10 Accumulation  (7 g Rip Van Winkle - Vega Sicila) - Fadzli Yusoff (a3); drew barrier 6 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on turf carries 51.5kg. He is better suited to the 1400m-1600m distane, but it is possible to see him finish in the top four.

8:30 p.m. R8 4 Stenmark (4 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 1 of 11 in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. He is nicely drawn (1) and rates a top three chance.

8:30 p.m. R8 7 Exdream (6 g Dream Ahead - Sboog) - CC Wong; drew outside barrier (11) in $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on turf and carries 52.5kg. He is better suited on the poly-track.

9:00 p.m. R9 5 Foresto (7 g Excelebration - Swiss Current) - Jerlyn Seow (a3); drew barrier 9 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1800 metres on poly-track and carries 53kg. He needs to improve.

9:00 p.m. R9 10 Rock N Roll  (5 g El Roca - Lola Bettle) - CC Wong; drew barrier 8 of 12 in $30,000 Class 5 1800 metres on poly-track and carries 51.5kg. He has an awkward draw (8) to contend with but the distance suits, so a place chance at best.

10:00 p.m. R11 5Buddy Buddy  (7 g Dubawi - Born Something) - Harry Kasim; drew barrier 4 of 12 in $50,000 Class 4 1400 metres on turf and carries 53.5kg. He should be getting home over 1400 metres, but wait to see.
