Te Akau NZ Weekend Preview

Date: 14 Jun 2013

Te Akau New Zealand has one horse entered for the eight-race programme at Ellerslie, and one on the eight-race card at Awapuni, Saturday June 15.

Ellerslie:

As at 8:34am on Friday June 14 the conditions were: fine and Heavy11, rail out 8 metres.

2:51pm R6 9 Thrive (5 m Colombia - Trove) - Matt Cameron; sustained a solid finish from six lengths off the pace at the 600 metres when fourth here on June 1 in the Benchmark 85 1600 metres on Heavy11 footing. Confronting similar ground, she has taken improvement from the run and able to secure the right passage from barrier one she boasts the credentials to cope with conditions as well as any.

Awapuni:

As at 11:49am on Thursday June 13 the conditions were: showery and Heavy11, rail true.

2:31pm R5 10 Goosebumps (8 g Istidaad - Raewyn's Polly) - Shaun Phelan; did everything right in winning a hurdles trial on May 21 at Cambridge, following a notable effort on the flat for fourth to subsequent winner Android on May 6 in the Benchmark 65 2000 metres on Heavy11 at Matamata. Stronger this time in, he defeated promising jumper The Strutter in his hurdles win and shows to be unflinching on the most testing of ground. In the Manawatu Hurdles (2900m) he meets a quality field to provide a good line on him for jumping assignments ahead.
