Te Akau NZ Rotorua Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the nine-race premier programme on Saturday May 11 at Rotorua.

As at 8:19am on Friday 10 May the conditions were: raining and Slow8, rail True.

12:45pm R3 8 Clos De Tart (3 f Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - David Walsh; chased the pack and swept wide to win easily when making her debut on April 24 in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on Heavy10 at Te Aroha. She now takes on a strong field of three-year-olds over 1400 metres. Her dam, Rapid Kay, also trained by Te Akau, impressed on slow ground in a career of five victories from 1300m to 1600m, as too her half-sister, Skittle (Pins), an impressive winner on slow footing amongst five wins to date - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

12:45pm R3 10 Milan Miss (3 f Darci Brahma - Falaniella) - Matt Cameron; found conditions to her liking when drawing clear on Heavy10 footing to win here on April 17 over 1400 metres. One start on the course for a win is certainly advantageous as she steps up in class and along with her stable mate is worthy of a place in this field on the back of a compelling last start victory with this rider aboard.

3:41pm R8 10 Thrive (5 m Colombia - Trove) - Matt Cameron; resumes from a 191-day break in the weight-for-age Rotorua Stakes (Listed, 1400m) for fillies and mares. She quickened on heavy footing to win the more recent of her two preparatory trials, at Paeroa, and trainer Jason Bridgman has her forward to resume. A talented wet track galloper with a record of four victories from ten starts, she was a winner on debut and has shown subsequently to act in a fresh state.
