Te Akau NZ Paeroa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the seven-race programme on Saturday May 11 at Rotorua.

The entire card of seven races is sponsored by Te Akau.

As at 7:41am on Saturday May 11 the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail True.

1:52pm R3 6 Sunset Pass (4 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Patrick Ormsby; was put in the race 800 metres out and did a good job for third when resuming on April 17 in the Maiden High-weight 1950 metres at Rotorua. He has blinkers on for this assignment over 2200 metres, where further improvement will make him competitive.

3:37pm R6 4 Prospero (5 g High Chaparral - Alfred's Jewel) - Aaron Kuru (a3); has the benefit of two trials in preparation to resume from a 158-day break in the Benchmark 65 High-weight 1670 metres. A winner on slow footing over 2200 metres at Rotorua, he is a horse that can act in a fresh state and being a half-brother to Superturf (Black Minnaloushe), Turfstar (Danske), and King Kalani (Askalani), assists his prospects on this footing.

4:12pm R7 2 Secret Whisper (4 g Align - Danewhisper) - Aaron Kuru (a3); did the job with aplomb in heavy ground to win on May 6 in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres at Matamata, and remains in the same grade to contest the Benchmark 75 High-weight 1670 metres. His deeds leading up to the victory were very genuine and he again appears a strong chance with the benefit of a three-kilo weight relief.
