Te Akau NZ Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race programme on Wednesday May 8 at Avondale.

As at 6:52am on Tuesday May 7 the conditions were: fine and Slow8, rail out 4 metres.

2:05pm R4 9 Exabelle (4 m Exceed and Excel - Avabelle) - Matt Cameron; began well and after steadying to midfield at the 600 metres she produced a strong finish to win on April 12 in the Benchmark 65 1600 metres on Dead6 at Awapuni. Although stepping up in grade and distance for the Benchmark 75 2100 metres, she appears nicely placed in an even field and should prove competitive from barrier three. From the family of Eye Full (Palatable), Vision (Entrepreneur) and Gaze (Cape Cross) she is bred to get over more ground.

3:50pm R7 11 Goyescas (4 m Encosta De Lago - Larrocha) - Shane Dye; resumes from a spell, with two trials under her belt, in the Benchmark 75 1400 metres. Already a winner on slow footing and a 5:2-1-0 record, she ended her previous campaign with her best performance to win with this rider aboard at Rotorua. A race run at genuine tempo would certainly benefit her prospects from a wide draw.
