Te Akau North South Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Saturday 8 August: Te Rapa and Riccarton. 

Te Rapa: 

Weather: fine, track: Heavy9, rail: out 10 metres. No rain forecast. 

3:10 p.m. R6 4 Sense of Timing (6 m Time Test – Pin Up Lae) – Hayley Hassman (a1); she was unable to quicken on Heavy10 footing in the Rating 75 1600 metres here on 25 July, and contests the $35,000 Rating 75 1400 metres. She finished strongly for third in the fastest last 600m (35.7) on Soft7 footing in the Rating 75 1400 metres here at her prior start on 4 July, and receives the opportunity to improve if she handles the track conditions.  Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.60.

Riccarton: 

Weather: fine, track: Heavy10, rail: true. Showers forecast Saturday afternoon.

1:45 p.m. R5 9 Balance Of Power (6 g Almanzor – Respin) – Lily Sutherland; he was overhauled late in the piece in more testing ground nearer rail in the Rating 75 1800 metres here last Saturday, and contests the $35,000 Rating 75 2000 metres. He's put together four wins to 2000 metres, three on soft ground, and has ability to prove competitive if appreciative of current conditions. Fixed odds: $9.00 & $2.90.

4:46 p.m. R10 1 Vivacious (6 m Dundeel – Vivi Veloce) – Floor Moerman (a2); she made ground near the rail for fifth in the Rating 75 1400 metres here (poly-track) on 8 July, and is one of two stablemates contesting the $35,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. Her last win was here in March on turf over 1200 metres, and she is a talented mare at her best but again much depends on her coping with the prevailing conditions. Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.90.

4:46 p.m. R10 3 Hooray For Harry (5 g Harry Angel – Here We Come) – Triston Moodley (a1); he has been given time (31 days) since finishing second in the $35,000 Rating 75 1200 metres on 2 July at Ashburton, also with Tristan Moodley aboard, and contests the corresponding event. A dual course/distance winner over 1200 metres on soft and heavy ground, he has been working well and brings the right form to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.30.
