Te Akau North Island Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Saturday 3 December: Pukekohe, and Trentham.   

Pukekohe:

Weather: cloudy, track: Soft7, rail: out 6 metres. No rain forecast.

3:38 p.m. R7 2 Lord Cosmos (3 g Pierro - Cosmic Powers) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a); he was freshened after failing to handle the Heavy10 in the El Roca - Sir Colin Meads Trophy (Listed, 1200m), and trialled okay on 3 November at Matamata. Resuming in the $100,000 Mitchell Family Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), he has shown the ability to act fresh and is ideally drawn (3) - one of three Te Akau runners to contest the feature. Fixed odds: $14.00 & $3.50.

3:38 p.m. R7 4 Kabugee (3 g Satono Aladdin - Kabuki) - Joe Kamaruddin (a); he made it two from two when resuming with a victory in the 3YO 1215 metres on 16 October at Rotorua, and ran the fastest last 600m (35.6) for fifth to subsequent Wellington Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) winner Devastate (Vadamos) on 12 November at Tauranga. He is stepping up in the $100,000 Mitchell Family Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), but he looks competitive with a decent trip from barrier nine. Fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.30.

3:38 p.m. R7 11 Skew Wiff (3 f Savabeel - Starvoia) - Vinnie Colgan; she impressed winning a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 19 October at Tauranga, before running fifth after getting back in the Rating 65 1300 metres here on 8 November. Also stepping up in the $100,000 Mitchell Family Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), she has ability but she too requires luck from her wide draw (10). Fixed odds: $14.00 & $3.50.

5:29 p.m. R10 14 Elounda (4 m Contributer - Nomisma) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a1); she followed two second placings by winning as a favourite should in the Maiden 1400 metres here on 8 November, and contests the $45,000 Rating 65 1500 metres. She has done nothing wrong, there is strong form around her, and she ideally drawn (5) to aid the step up in grade. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.

Trentham:

Weather: fine, track: Soft7, rail: true. No rain forecast.

2:10 p.m. R4 5 Believe In Magic (2 f Not A Single Doubt - Perform A Miracle) - Craig Grylls; she made good ground for sixth when debuting in the Maiden 2YO 800 metres on 24 September at Ruakaka, and displayed defiance to win the 2YO 1100 metres on 3 November at Woodville. She meets a stronger field in the $140,000 Mode Technology Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr. 2, 1100m), however she is ideally drawn (4) and possesses the right attributes to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.65.

4:29 p.m. R8 3 Prise De Fer (7 g Savabeel - Foiled) - Michael McNab; he fought hard for second in the Tauranga Stakes (Gr. 2, 1600m) on 12 November at Tauranga, before unleashing from the rear with the fastest final 600m (34.6) to win the Eagle Technology Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) last Saturday at Te Rapa. Group One placed five times, he is racing at the top of his game and rates a top three chance in the $300,000 Rydges Captain Cook Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m). Fixed odds: $3.30 & $1.30.
