Te Akau Mornington Monday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Monday 8 June at and Mornington (Melbourne).

Mornington:

Weather: fine, track: Heavy9, rail: true. No rain forecast.

2:25 p.m. (NZ) - 12:25 p.m. (Vic) R1 6 Opunake (2 g Nicconi – Alana’s Party) – Lachlan Neindorf; he found plenty after being shadowed in front to win a trial on 14 May at Caulfield, and debuts in the A$60,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres. He is the half-brother to Te Akau purchased and trained dual Group Two, Group Three, and Listed winner Bellatrix Star (Star Witness), along with impressive debut winning half-brother Royal Rendezvous (Royal Meeting). While it is difficult to assess his chances in an open field containing winners and he requires luck from a wide draw (10), he does bring winning trial form. NZ TAB fixed odds: $16.00 & $3.90.

4:45 p.m. (NZ) - 2:45 p.m. (Vic) R5 3 Stage ‘n’ Screen (4 m Ace High – Inthespotlight) – Craig Williams; she remained well held together after travelling outside the leader to win a jump out on 1 June at Cranbourne, also with Williams aboard, and resumes in the A$60,000 Benchmark 78 Fillies & Mares 1200 metres. Two of her three wins have come over 1200 metres, and she has established a consistently good record. She is also shown the ability to act well when in a fresh state, and she shapes to race well first-up this new campaign. NZ TAB fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.85.
