Jumping Trials

Te Akau horses took part in the jumps trials Monday June 17 at Cambridge.

The footing was rated Heavy11, with the rail in the True position.

Heat 1 Maiden Hurdles 2000 metres (2 lengths, 8 lengths 2:15.87)

Cajero (3 g Encosta De Lago - Cashier) - Shaun Phelan; over nine flights of hurdles, he jumped everything nicely enough and got around safely. Over the first behind the leaders, he jumped through to lead and then steadied amongst horses in what was a good educational experience.

Heat 2 Maiden Hurdles 2000 metres (3 lengths, 1 ½ lengths 2:13.38)

Red on Black (3 g Red Clubs - Palais Jamai) - Shaun Phelan; also jumped very well. He is a fantastic little jumper and although not happy in the very testing conditions he got around safely and the rider was pleased with the performance.

Heat 3 Maiden Hurdles 2000 metres (2 lengths, 1 ½ lengths 2:12.40)

Stanica Star (6 g Danzero - Stanica) - Shaun Phelan; jumped extremely well and did everything asked of him first time over hurdles. He experienced travelling between horses over the fences and he did a good job.

Heat 4 Maiden Hurdles 2000 metres (2 lengths, 1 ½ lengths 2:10.30)

Sunset Pass (4 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Shaun Phelan; over nine flights of hurdles, he handled the heavy conditions at a reduced tempo over fences. He jumped fantastically and the rider was very positive in his comments of the performance in finishing third (pictured).
