Australia Update

Karyn writes - the filly that we have bought from the Gold Coast Sale (pictured above) will arrive in New Zealand soon - and already the interest in her has been very keen - with 40% of her sold already.

Let me tell you a little bit more about her - speaking with Mark Walker, he sings her praises.  He told me that when he and David inspected her she was an immediate "must have" and to secure her for only around $57,000 NZD was incredible buying.

She is a lovely, strong filly with plenty of scope - she moves across the ground fluidly and looks just the type to be an early runner - Mark thinks a race such as the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes would well be perfect for her next February.  Remember Te Akau knows how to win that race with the likes of Te Akau Rose, Te Akau Coup and others - a race we have in fact won four times on our New Zealand home track.

Jason too is excited about her - she already has a lot of maturity about her - "it will be great to have her in the stable in the spring".

So please email me [email protected] to claim your share in this girl (I actually like her so much I am going to buy a share in her too)!  We can race her together!

I also want to update you on why I am currently in Australia and to ensure that our owners and friends have accurate information.  David was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after feeling unwell that day so I immediately flew across with our daughter Julia.  He has severe pneumonia/chest infection and is currently in an induced coma in the intensive care unit at Pindara Hospital as specialists believe this is the best way to help to fight the condition.  This will be the case for about another week to ten days.  He is in great hands here, I will be with him for the whole time and as you all know, he's a tough cookie so will beat this for sure and the doctors are very positive.  I have had some messages from friends concerned that he has had a heart attack and can assure you that is not the case. His heart is in great shape.

So as I sit by his hospital bed, I will keep you updated - we are lucky we have such a great team - Mark and Julia, Gus and Karen in Singapore, Jason and Pam and Tommy in New Zealand, Sam, Steve, Dayna, Luke, Davey and Lucy at the stud and our wonderful Robyn in the office.  And I am constantly contactable on my cell phone or by email - we have horses to train for you and races to win for you and that remains our primary focus.

So now my next mission - to tell David when he wakes up in another week or so that I have sold our new Flying Spur filly for him - 100%!  That is my mission this week so if you can help me with that and race her with me, drop me a note.  Talk soon and thank you for the many kind thoughts and wishes that I have received, very special and appreciated indeed - we are lucky to have such amazing pals (as David term)!  - Karyn.
