Te Akau Rose

The daughter of Thorn Park/Straussbridge was purchased by David Ellis from Karaka 2008 for $52,500 and is trained by Mark Walker.  She was runner up in the Group 3 Ford 2YO Classic at Taranaki in early February 2009 and followed this with a win in the $125,000 Group, 2 Robin, Duke of Bedford Matamata Breeders' Stakes, Te Akau's fourth win in this prestigious event.  As a 3YO Te Akau Rose was second in both the Listed Carter Gib Fillies Stakes (beaten a nose), the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes (beaten a half neck) and third in the Listed Gore Guineas. Raced by Brent Hill, Craig & Pip Forsyth, Daniel Pitt, Sam Yates, Malcom Keys, Colin Hunt and Grant Allen she has earned $131,355 with three wins and seven placings from her fourteen starts.  She retired to stud in March 2010.
