PERFECT SCENARIO

Perfect Scenario, a gelding by Iffraaj, is a horse that hit his heights as a 5YO.

Always regarded as having ability, he won his first two starts as a 3YO in October 2020.   He contested the $70,000 Group 3 Mitchell Family Bonecrusher Stakes 3YO SW 1400m at Ellerslie in early December 2020, finishing fourth, before taking on the Karaka Million 3YO Classic in January 2021, claiming fifth place.

In February 2021, Perfect Scenario snared his first black type when third in the $100,000 Group 2 Legacy Lodge Waikato Guineas 3YO SW 2000m in the hands of Danielle Johnson. After copping all sorts of bad luck and interference in the NZ Derby that season, he enjoyed a long spell, resuming later that year.

After good form saw him return to stakes' company, the now 5YO who was patiently handled by the team and his owners, was an eye-catching fourth in the $65,000 Listed Team Wealleans Matamata Cup Open Hcp 1600m in October 2022.

He then headed south with the $250,000 Group 3 Coupland's Mile One Hcp 1600m on his radar, and was a convincing winner of the Mile Prelude in late October 2022.  Brave in the Mile itself in early November, he finished fifth, only 2.5 lengths off the winner.

In yet another example of Te Akau trainer Mark Walker thinking outside the square, Perfect Scenario enjoyed a month's break before being prepared for another South Island campaign - and this approach certainly paid off.

The 5YO flew home for third in the $65,000 Listed Timaru Stakes Open Hcp 1400m in late January 2023 with Jason Laking aboard. In a sign of what was to come, but with Te Akau apprentice Joe Kamaruddin in the saddle, Perfect Scenario was guided to his well-deserved first stakes' victory on 4 February 2023 - the $100,000 Group 3 White Robe Lodge WFA 1600m at the Otago Racing Club's Wingatui track. Loving the South Island, he returned to the scene of his 2023 victory a year later and successfully defended his crown. His back to back wins in the $120,000 GROUP 3 White Robe Lodge WFA 1600m, ridden by Te Akau apprentice Niranjan Parmar, took his career winning tally to nine. Perfect Scenario was purchased by David Ellis CNZM from the Karaka Yearling Sale Book 1 for $165,000 and is raced by the Te Akau Perfection Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM). He has raced 34 times, with nine wins and 16 other placings, earning $352,770.
