Group and Listed Achievements

Te Akau was very proud to be entrusted with the training of One Kiss – a Tivaci filly bred and raced by Lib Petagna of JML Bloodstock Ltd.

On debut in August 2022 at Taupo, One Kiss had no luck whatsoever – she jumped awkwardly, over-raced in restricted room and then was held up until the final stages.

Te Akau trainer Mark Walker elected to send the filly to Te Akau’s South Island base following this and in September 2022, the plan came to early fruition.

Opening as a $5 proposition for the $65,000 Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes 3YOF SW 1200m, One Kiss drifted out in TAB betting to around $13 despite Te Akau stable rider Opie Bosson electing to ride the filly.

It was just her second start and after settling back from her wide draw, it was a copybook Opie Bosson ride, travelling wide at the turn and winning by easily despite the rider dropping his whip at the 100m.

On Kiss became Te Akau’s fourth winner of this traditional build up to the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas – following in the footsteps of Shikoba and Darci Brahma full sisters Darci’s Dream and Windborne.

Trained by Mark Walker, One Kiss has raced twice for her stakes’ win, and prize money to date of $37,655.
