KAHMA LASS

This talented daughter of Darci Brahma, who himself was purchased by David Ellis and trained by Mark Walker to win five Group 1 titles, covered herself in glory winning the $300,000 Group 1 Barneswood Farm New Zealand 1000 Guineas 3YOF SW 1600m at Riccarton in November 2020.

Kahma Lass was purchased by David Ellis at the Karaka Premier Sale for $290,000 and is trained by Jamie Richards for owners Brendan Lindsay MNZM and Jo Lindsay, proprietors of Cambridge Stud.

She finished second on debut in September 2020 and followed that with an impressive win in October 2020 in the hands of Danielle Johnson.

Later that month Kahma Lass was hugely unlucky to finish second, beaten only a nose in the $70,000 Group 3 Waikato Stud Soliloquy Stakes at Te Rapa.  That flagged that she certainly was a stakes' filly in the making.

The confidence we had in the filly showed it was well placed when she cruised home to win the $300,000 Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas - becoming Te Akau's fifth winner of this race, following in the footsteps of Costa Viva, Insouciant, King's Rose and Risque. The first three of Te Akau's previous winners all went on to be named NZB Filly of the Year.

Crossing the Tasman in her four-year-old season, Kahma Lass was super impressive winning the A$175,000 Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, Melbourne in the hands of Brett Prebble.  It was a notable day as her connections owner/trainer/jockey/purchaser also had Probabeel win the Group 1 Might and Power Stakes later on the programme.

Kahma Lass has raced seven times for three wins and two second placings - earning $297,227 to date.
