At just her second start, after debuting earlier in January 2022, Darci Brahma filly Hanalei claimed the $60,000 Listed IRT Wellesley Stakes 2YO 1100m at Trentham on 15 January.
Bred and raced by Leanne and Paul Richards and their friends Sandra and Bill Duell, the filly was awkwardly away but took over the lead at the 200m and raced away to win easily by 3.25 lengths in the hands of Michael McNab.
Hanalei has raced twice for that stakes' win and a second placing on debut, earning prizemoney of $36,660 to date.
