Darci’s Dream was bred by Te Akau Stud’s David Ellis and his wife Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM.  By Darci Brahma, who himself was selected and purchased by David Ellis, this filly out of Van Nistelrooy mare Sweet Dreams Baby was purchased by David Ellis for Fortuna Syndicators from the Karaka Select Sale for $45,000.

With two wins and two placings from just six starts she looked special and confirmed that reputation with a stirring win in the $50,000 Listed NZB Canterbury Belle Stakes in September 2014 – ridden by New Zealand’s “most winning jockey” David Walsh.

In November 2014, Darci’s Dream was runner up in the $300,000 Group 1 NZB 1000 Guineas at Riccarton.  Later that same month, her 2YO full sister claimed the $50,000 Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes at Avondale.

While Te Akau has won this race previously under trainer Mark Walker, this was Te Akau trainer Jason Bridgman’s first win of this time-honoured event.

Darci’s Dream has raced ten times, recording three wins and three placings for stakes of $103,000 and is raced by Fortuna Syndicators.
