AMALFI PRINCE

Amalfi Prince was purchased by David Ellis CNZM from the NZB Ready to Run Sale for $90,000.  It was great buying given the son of Sebring had been a A$150,000 yearling.

At the gelding's seventh start he recorded his second race day win when stylishly claiming victory in the $80,000 Group 3 Higgins Concrete Manawatu Classic 3YO SW 2000m in the hands of Te Akau apprentice Joe Kamaruddin, Joe's second stokes' success at the Awapuni course for the season.

It was a brave performance to see the 3YO rocket straight to the front, dictate terms and never relinquish that position, upsetting the favoured runners including stablemate, Karaka 2YO Million and Group 1 winner On The Bubbles who didn't see the 2000m - paying $26 for the win!

His win was the first for returning Te Akau New  Zealand trainer Mark Walker, on his first day officially back at the helm of the stable.

Amalfi Prince is raced by the Te Akau Italian Spirit Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) and has had seven starts with two wins and four placings, earning $60,115 to date.
